In light of the advice from the government and the FIEC (Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches), to avoid all unnecessary contact, we have taken the difficult decision to suspend all of our physical meetings for the foreseeable future – this includes Sunday services and home groups, all outreach work and youth work.
We recognise that this is very sad and will be very difficult for many people, but necessary in order to serve the wider goal of keeping people safe and allowing the NHS to cope. As Christian believers, we take seriously God’s command that we should listen to and heed those whom He has placed in authority over us, so let’s keep praying for our leaders, nationally and locally, as well as those impacted by the virus and all carers.
It is important that we pray for one another and care for one another during this time. Please use the telephone a lot over these coming weeks! We need to ‘encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today’ (Hebrews 3:13), and if we are forced by circumstances to ‘give up meeting together’, ‘let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds’, (Hebrews 10:23-25), even at a distance!
We will communicate regularly through the website and the church Facebook page. Remember also that there are many sermons in the members area of the website (https://www.wecmk.org/members/ ).
Be assured of our continued love and prayers!
‘The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.’ Deuteronomy 33:27.
Grace and peace to you all.
On behalf of the Elders and Deacons of Wolverton Evangelical Church.
